Columbia, MO –

Heart of Missouri United Way is excited to announce that James C. (Jim) Owen, President and CEO of Missouri Employers Mutual, will chair the 2023 Campaign. 

“It is an honor to serve the United Way in this capacity,” Owen said. “I support the United Way personally because I’ve witnessed the difference the community impact model has made in our community.” 

Jim Owen has served as a volunteer for Heart of Missouri United Way and partner agencies since becoming President and CEO of Missouri Employers Mutual. He has been a key campaign volunteer for 10 years serving as a Chair of the Major Firms division and New Business Development division. 

Missouri Employers Mutual has served as a longtime community partner of the Heart of Missouri United Way as a Pacesetter company, donating employees as loaned officers and working with the Heart of Missouri United Way to hold key events at Missouri Employers Mutual including hosting the most recent participants in the Give 5 volunteer program. 

Jim and his wife Abby Owen are also Members of the Heart of Missouri United Way Alexis de Tocqueville Society – Orde de Generosite. 

“Jim Owen has a passion for his community and helping others,” said David Holtgraewe, Chief Operations Officer, “It has been a pleasure to know and work with him through his various roles with United Way over the past decade and I am excited for what we can accomplish with the 2023 Campaign.” 

Each year, volunteers donate over 9,250 hours in support of Heart of Missouri United Way’s campaign. Last year’s United Way campaign raised more than $2.9 million to meet the needs in our community. 

Heart of Missouri United Way proudly funds programs in Boone, Cooper and Howard counties in the areas of health, education, and financial stability through its Community Impact Model.
