2016 Pacesetters raise $1.1 million

Boone Hospital Center hosted the annual Pacesetter Awards Breakfast this morning, marking the 19th anniversary of this prestigious event that recognizes United Way campaign excellence. Of the more than 200 local businesses, school and agencies that run employee-giving campaigns for United Way, 54 rose to the top for achievements in fundraising, earning them the "Pacesetter" designation.

Before a packed room, Campaign Chair Mike Messer announced during the breakfast that the combined contributions of these 54 Pacesetters came to $1,142,991. This is an 11 percent increase over 2015 Pacesetter contributions, and the largest contribution made by these companies since 2010. Approximately six weeks after the campaign kickoff on Sept. 2, the Pacesetter contribution puts United Way more than a third of the way toward its overall $3 million goal. The campaign is set to wrap up on Jan. 31, 2017.

To achieve Pacesetter status, companies and their employees must have completed their United Way campaigns by September 29, pledged a combined corporate/employee donation of at least $4,000, and achieved specified benchmarks. This year's Pacesetter companies, which increased by 10 over 2015, include businesses and United Way partner agencies:
