Hurricane Maria

As of September 25, in the Dominican Republic, Hurricane Maria has left thousands of people displaced and has cut off 25 communities, with more than 113 out of service. Flooding is widespread. Our partners in the Dominican Republic are working directly with the local government, community organizations and other organizations such as the church, neighborhood councils, foundations, etc. to address local needs. While communication in Puerto Rico still remains a challenge we remain committed to recovery efforts. We are working closely with corporate partners and local United Ways on bringing resources to those in Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic and other areas in the Caribbean hit by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

As of September 26, the United Way Network has raised more than $56.02 million for storm-related needs and mid- and long-term recovery efforts related to Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
