Nearly 300 volunteers help out at annual Day of Caring

Volunteer work saves United Way agencies nearly $52,000

Landscaping. Playground repair. Painting fences. Construction. These are just a few examples of the hands-on work that nearly 300 volunteers completed during United Way’s Day of Caring on Sept. 11 following our community campaign kickoff.
Volunteers from 20 local companies spent the day completing much-needed projects for 17 United Way partner agencies. With labor and project costs, the volunteers’ work saved nearly $52,000 in expenses for these agencies – wow!
“The fabulous team of volunteers [from 3M] sent over by United Way was instrumental in helping us,” says Michele Towns, office manager for United Way partner agency Lutheran Family & Children’s Services. “Thank you United Way for sending this fabulous group to us today and all that you do for the families in our community!”
We are grateful to all of this year’s Day of Caring volunteers and to our partner agencies for providing them with meaningful projects to complete. Check out this recap video of our volunteers in action!
