Heart of Missouri United Way Meets 2011 Fundraising Goal AND Beats KU in the MU/KU Challenge!
At its Campaign Celebration on Tuesday evening, December 6th, Heart of Missouri United Way announced that it met its annual fundraising goal by raising $3,451,914. For the 51st year in a row, Heart of Missouri United Way set a goal higher than the year before; and despite a challenging economy, the people of mid-Missouri rose to the occasion and dug deeper than ever before to help make a difference in their community.
With needs in our community growing faster than resources, Heart of Missouri United Way expressed its appreciation for the astounding efforts of the hundreds of volunteers and thousands of people who contributed to the success of this year’s campaign. “The economic challenges of the last few years have made it evident that the needs in our community are great. Heart of Missouri United Way is committed to making a lasting difference here in mid-Missouri, and we are deeply grateful for the generosity of our community,” said Teresa, Maledy, 2011 Campaign Chair and President of Commerce Bank.
The 2011 Campaign, which launched on September 2nd with a goal of $3,450,000, involved 159 Campaign Leadership volunteers and more than 200 employee volunteers coordinating campaigns within their respective companies. With the assistance of 10 Loaned Executives from partner companies and seven Loaned Executives provided by the University of Missouri, these tireless, dedicated volunteers engaged six new Pacesetter companies, mobilized 12 new company campaigns, and realized significant increases in the campaigns of the City of Columbia, Williams Keepers, LLC, and the United Way partner agencies. Funds raised through the 2011 campaign will support 64 programs provided through 31 United Way Partner Agencies.
During the fall campaign, the University of Missouri and Heart of Missouri United Way partnered to achieve another significant goal by raising $17,269 in the MU/KU Challenge to beat KU for the third year in a row by selling its “One Mizzou Lives United” t-shirts and coordinating an online silent auction. The United Way of Douglas County raised $10,869.
“We are humbled by the generosity of our community and truly grateful for the giving spirit exhibited by the many volunteers, donors and partners that gave with the goal of making a difference in the lives of the people we serve. Thank you, Mid-Missouri!” said Tim Rich, Executive Director of Heart of Missouri United Way.
Although our fundraising goal has been met, Heart of Missouri United Way is still accepting donations. Contributions can be made by clicking here or by calling our offices at 573.443.4523.
